Community Distributions

In response to the pandemic, Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank adapted to the needs of the community, nearly doubling the number of partner agencies and forming partnerships to better reach isolated families. In 2020 it began working with Global Links, a Pittsburgh-based non-profit dedicated to improving health in communities with need by distributing surplus supplies, to organize large-scale drive-through diaper distributions. That year they collaborated on four drive-through events, giving out 480,000 diapers to families in crisis.

That same year Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank began a collaboration with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Best Books for Babies to give out diapers and a curated collection of books for babies up to age 18 months. The now annual drive-through event, hosted at Carnegie Library branches, continues to support families with a supply of diapers and books for young children.

The Diaper Bank continues to partner with community organizations to host giveaway events that allow families not affiliated with an agency to receive emergency assistance. This program has become an effective and low-barrier solution to reach families.

Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank still partners with Global Links and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on drive-through distributions and the University of Pittsburgh for a walk-up giveaway event of period products for students in need.
